CJ Raggatt is an exciting blues and roots performer based in Sydney Australia. He plays a double-neck guitar of his own design, incorporating an open-tuned slide guitar and a conventional six-string electric guitar. CJ’s guitar playing has been compared to that of John Butler, Derek Trucks, and Bob Brozman.
He was a founding member of top Australian band Matt Finish, and is currently leading his own band which includes on drums Antero Ceschin ex ‘The Mighty Reapers’, and Clayton Doley on keys ‘The Mighty Reapers and Harry Manx’, also with Kelvin Carlsson on harmonica and Rob Ewan on bass.
Kelvin and CJ won this years Sydney Blues Society solo/duo challenge and will be going to Memphis to represent Sydney at the 2017 International Blues Challenge.
CJ Raggatt plays and sings original Stomping Blues and versions of his favorite R&B classics, Smokin’ on slide guitar and ‘Going over the top’ on electric guitar, moving between the two necks of his custom-made double-neck guitar. He also uses an array of twelve and six-string acoustic guitars to best express the nuances of his original songs. C J Raggatt and his band perform Festivals and appear regularly at top music venues in Sydney.
